LEON CHOJNACKI

Kielce, 9 November 1948, 3.00 p. m. Edward Pękalski from the Citizens’ Militia Station in Kielce, on the instruction of the Deputy Prosecutor from the Regional District Court Prosecutor’s Office in Radom, with the participation of court reporter Marian Poniewierka, interviewed the person named below as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 140 of the Penal Code, the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Leon Chojnacki
Parents’ names Adam and Franciszka
Age 71 years old
Place of birth Kielce
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Occupation office worker
Place of residence Kielce, Świerczewskiego Street 18

I know that during the occupation, since 1940, both Polish and Jewish "prisoners" in the municipal jail in Kielce were starving; they had no life whatsoever.

Executions of Jews in the municipal jail took place at night and were carried out by the gendarmes and the Gestapo.

During the period from 1940 to 1941, I saw about a dozen Jews executed. As for the surnames of the Jews executed in the municipal jail or the surnames of the perpetrators of these executions, I do not know them and therefore cannot submit them.

I do not know anything else related to this case.

The report was read out.
