STANISŁAWA KRAWIECKA

Volunteer Stanisława Krawiecka, born on 13 November 1922, no profession.

I was deported together with my parents from wołyńskie voivodeship, Równe district, Dziatkiewicze commune, Leontówka settlement, to Arkhangelsk Oblast, Cherevkovsky region, Dmitrievsky Lesopunkt [forest work unit], Sorokada [?] hamlet. We were rigorously forced to work. There were wooden barracks, hygiene fair-to-middling, and plenty of bugs.

Nationality – only Poles; very hard working conditions, work quotas from 4 to 5 cubic meters, remuneration very low and reluctantly paid, meager clothes, life quite bearable.

The NKVD was very hostile towards Poles, and told us to forget about Poland, as we wouldn’t see the Polish land ever again.

Medical assistance and the hospital: good.

Mieczysław Mazur and his wife died from exhaustion. Also two children died.

Maintaining contact with our country was difficult, as the post office was situated 150 kilometers away. On 22 February 1942, my father, Grzegorz Krawiecki, died in Uzbekistan, Dekanabat region, Yusupov kolkhoz.

There wasn’t any medical assistance.

The NKVD’s attitude towards Poles was very bad.

A lot of people died: Weronika Szuchnik, her husband and other adults – Józef Furman and his wife Adela, Emilia Chronikowska.

All of them died from hunger and filth.
