BOLESŁAW WIŚNIK

In Józefów Nowy on this day, 21 September 1948, at 10.00 a.m., Jan Gronowski from the Citizens’ Militia Station in Budziszewice heard the person named below as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of Article 140 of the Penal Code, the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Bolesław Wiśnik
Parents’ names Józef and Marianna, née Rokicka
Age 40 years old
Date and place of birth 28 July 1924, Babsk, Marianów commune
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Occupation farmer
Place of residence Józefów Nowy, Budziszewice commune, Rawa Mazowiecka district
Relationship to the parties none

I don’t remember the exact day and month; I was roofing the state police station together with Henryk Piwowarski. At the time, three gendarmes arrived in a car; I recognized Szuman, but the other two were unknown to me. They ordered the commandant of the station to choose two people and a cart; they were to go to the Regnów [?] road in order to bury two people who had been killed and who were lying beside a high hill.

When we arrived at the site, we saw two people lying a hundred meters to the side of the road: these were Zygmunt Mela and Stanisław Skibniewski, residents of the village and commune of Budziszewice. We placed the bodies on the cart and transported them to the cemetery, where they were buried.

I would like to emphasize that I didn’t witness them being shot, but I heard from other people that they had been killed by the same gendarmes who ordered us to bury them.

I don’t know anything else in the present case.

At this the report was concluded, read out and signed.
