On 16 November 1948 the Magistrates’ Court in Zwoleń, with Judge Łowicki presiding and with the participation of a reporter, Gwarek, interviewed the person mentioned hereunder as a witness. After advising the witness of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the significance of the oath, the judge took an oath therefrom, following which the witness testified as follows:

I do not remember the day, but it was before the harvest of 1942, I saw German gendarmes – men unknown to me – take Bronisław Śmietanka and his brother from the smithy. I later learned that Bronisław and his brother, Józef Śmietanka, were shot dead by the gendarmes on the same day. I walked up to the spot and saw the bodies of the murdered men lying in the rye field next to the road to Zamość. I know nothing else.
