I met Maria Mandl in 1944 in the camp in Birkenau, where she was the commandant. During the freezing weather in January or February 1944, she noticed two sweaters on me, took me to the front of the kitchen, told me to undress completely, punched me in the face and kicked me in the stomach, then poured cold water over me. Wet and naked I escaped to the cold block, where I put on a dress without any sweaters.

During the roll call at block 15, one female prisoner was missing – a Polish woman who was mentally ill. After a search, she was found hiding in a chest. Mandl, accompanied by some other German men and women, beat her so badly that she was taken to the hospital almost dead. Mandl beat and kicked the block and room elders and transferred them to the penal company. In general, Mandl terrorized the prisoners.

I do not recognize any other German criminals by name from the list shown to me. Of the most extreme criminal individuals from the camp crew [in] Auschwitz, I would like to mention: Taube, Hasse, Drechsel and Trude Gerhard – all women.

The report was read out and signed.
