13 April 1940, deported with my family to the USSR.

Severo-Kazakhstanskaya Oblast, Krasnoarmeysk Region. A kolkhoz.

4. Description of the camp, prison:

Terrible housing and hygienic conditions.

5. Social composition of prisoners, POWs, deportees:

75 percent of the prisoners were families of officials, Polish Army officers, etc. About 90 percent of them were Poles.

Good mutual relations.

6. Life in the camp, prison:

Forced ground and farm work, etc. An example of the remuneration: the person filling in this questionnaire earned 38 rubles for the period from May to December 1940. Deportees were not paid the same as the locals.

7. Attitude of the NKVD towards Poles:

Unfavorable attitude.

8. Medical assistance, hospitals, mortality:

Poor medical help.

9. Was it possible to keep in touch with the home country and your family?

Very limited contact with the home country and our families.

10. When were you released and how did you join the army?

Permission to leave the region was granted on the grounds of the September amnesty. I applied to the army in writing in September 1941. I was told to wait. I left to join the army in February 1942.
