My wartime experiences

When the Germans invaded Poland, it was a horrible war. I was in Warsaw at the time, and there was a big battle there. When German planes flew over, I hid in the shelter, as they were dropping bombs and the Polish artillery was firing. The Germans fought Poland for a long time, and they eventually conquered the country. [Then] they started arresting people and taking them to Germany.

When the Germans declared war on the Soviet Union, they thought capturing Russia would be as easy as with Poland. Then, the Poles and the Polish army drove the Germans away from Poland, the Germans lost the war and now Poland is free.
