My most memorable moment from the German occupation

Dawn breaks. The mist slowly rises, the sun shines through. The weather promises to be great. There is fear in the streets of our town. The Germans walk around, gathering people. You can hear the women crying and the Germans yelling. They lead everyone to the market square. There they select the men and place them in cars. Weeping, the women bid farewell to their husbands and sons. The engines start; they are gone! Women and children are left crying loudly. It all happened in Chęciny on 2 June 1944, but similar events took place all over Poland. Throughout the occupation, the Germans tormented the Poles, but they didn’t manage to kill the Polish spirit.
